Welp, this is where it all starts, I guess! I’m really taking this next chapter of my life and making it a reality. As a kid, I remember always writing poetry, drawing, taking pictures, and simply imagining! At one point, I wanted to be a cartoon animator because I constantly drew cartoon characters. As time grew, I found myself writing poetry and small scripts that I believed would make it to Hollywood. I tried my hand at writing my own script, mimicking one of my favorites, “Love Jones”. This movie was the definition of who I was, a man of many talents! Lover of music, photography, and poetry. The Renaissance man!
This Sunday, while at church, I had a moment! Tears began to roll down my face as I reflected on how far I’ve come. In that moment, God showed me how he stepped into my life at a moment I needed him the most. It would take me on a journey of 7-8 years of change and growth. I had this vision right in the middle of church! It was as if I was living back in my old two-bedroom apartment, lying in the bed in the dark, depressed, hurt, and broken. Watching YouTube videos, I didn’t know how I was going to see the light of day. I was someone who hadn’t graduated from college after several attempts, recently divorced, broke, not knowing where the next dime would come from, lonely, and more. I needed someone, I needed something! In this vision, I saw someone come and open the door, a small corner of light shone through the room with a figure of a man standing at the door asking if I were okay! That’s all I needed, and God reminded me in that moment that he will always be by my side to check in on me.
Fast forward to today! I’m sitting in front of my MacBook Air, creating this blog post. I’m operating my own photography and video production company, a non-profit organization executive director, an educator, children’s book author, and now 10 months away from finishing up my master’s degree. I’m married for the second time to my beautiful wife, and we have three amazing children. I no longer live in a two-bedroom apartment because I surprised my family with a four-bedroom home. I’ve started a platform for my journalistic endeavors. I’m living the dream, right? I am! This is why Conversations w/Woo is important! This is why Conversations w/Woo is here!
Welcome!
